The Devi Abhaya Sutra is a sacred thread traditionally worn around the wrist for a specified period of time. The Sutra is intended for personal spiritual practice and is worn continuously for a minimum of 40 days.
Associated with the Devi aspect (Linga Bhairavi), this sutra is worn as a symbol of inner stability and direction. Due to its light and simple structure, it is suitable for daily wear without interfering with normal activities.

After the wearing period is over, the sutra can be disposed of in one of the following ways:
Bury it in moist soil
Burn the sutra
Release it into a larger body of water (river, lake or ocean)
If it is burned tomorrow, the ashes can be gently applied from the throat area (Vishuddhi) towards the heart area (Anahata).
